Boston Ecosystems-Charles River

Hello, my name is Christian. I'm in the 6th grade at the Amigos School. My group’s ecosystem is the Charles River. It is located between Cambridge and Boston. It acts like a border between them.

Abiotic means not alive or never was alive. Some abiotic things at the river are water (H2o), air (o2), and of course, land. Some abiotic things near the river are the concrete streets, the bridge going over it, and buildings.

Biotic things are living organisms that have life. Some biotic things at the river are fish, clams, trees, snails, geese, ducks and worms.

Most of the producers are the trees and moss.

The decomposers at the river are snails, worms, lichen and mold.

The consumers are fish, snails, ducks, geese, and clams. As you know, there are different levels of consumers. There are herbivores, carnivore, and omnivores. Some consumers near the river are squirells, birds, people (of course), and other living organisms.
Herbivores are secondary consumers that only eat plants.

Carnivores only eat meat and are the tertiary consumers.
Omnivores eat meat and plants.025_22A.JPG Katyana,Ezequiel, and Yanerys are looking at the lichen and snails on the tree. You cant see the snails because they're on the other side of the tree.

Each time an animal eats another organism, energy gets passed on to it. But as the energy passes, it decreases in energy. That’s why there aren't many carnivores on earth.
